Marvel's Greatest Comics

Postby GrnMarvl14 » Fri Mar 05, 2010 2:20 am

The "Marvel's Greatest Comics" line are just reprints. Do we really need separate pages for them? The only differences are slight changes to the cover and different ads. Seems like it would be appropriate for a category, though.

If anything, I'd lean more towards showing it as a variant cover with some info in the notes section.

That's actually EXACTLY what I did with Invincible Iron Man. Also turned the page on the Marvel's Greatest Comics version into a redirect (since there was nothing major on it). Which seems like a good thing to do so that we can still show the Marvel's Greatest Comics versions on the main page.

They're a reprint of a single comic or a group of reprints in one issue?

One reprint per issue. Invincible Iron Man #1's Marvel's Greatest Comic was just that...Invincible Iron Man #1. Per my understanding, they're all the same thing (in terms of being one issue (the first issue) reprinted). Likely, they're meant as teasers for the trades (they are only $1, minus Invincible Iron Man, which was a teaser for the line itself). But they have the same cover image (with the Marvel's Greatest Comics banner added on top, and a different number box), same general content, and really just have new ads (possibly also a list of related collections. Invincible Iron Man had one, at the least).

I see the benefit to listing them on the main page with the other new comics, but it should ultimately just link to the original issue's page (if one exists. Not certain if there's a page for this week's Wonderful World of Oz #1).

Ah... if that's the case, then agreed with no new page, but just a redirect and a cover/note about the difference in cover.
